Experience JUBILEE CHARTER SCHOOL
2015 - 2016 Special Education Teacher – Resource and Content Mastery San Antonio, TX
• Assessed the needs of eleven students with special needs and development an individualized education plan for content mastery and resource – student test scores increased by 20%.
• Managed student behavior, applying non-violent crisis intervention techniques as needed. One of two teachers in school with the CPI designation.
• Coordinated holistic well-being visits with psychologists, and occupational, speech, and physical therapists visits. Provided updates to school administration and parents on a weekly basis.
• Setup a mentorship program in which older non special need students were assigned to younger students with special needs to provide assistance in subjects they had difficulty with.
• There was an instance where a student was routinely tearing apart his first grade classroom. We used non-violent crisis intervention skills, therapeutic listening, and I suggested we get him looked at by the Licensed Specialist in School Psychology. Over time, interventions were put in place for when it did happen and the behaviors did get better.

NEW LIFE CHILDREN’S TREATMENT CENTER
2015 Behavioral Specialist Canyon Lake, TX
• Supervised twelve residents and managed self injurious and violent behavior in a milieu
• Provided detailed documentation on each residents behaviors, levels, conditions to next shift supervisor
• Gained trust and respect of the residents by taking them on therapeutic outings, setting clear rules and boundaries and taking the time to listen and help solve issues they were having.
• I was present two times when girls tried to kill themselves; I was always hypervigilant about being observant; in one instance the girl had her back to the other two behavior specialists that were watching her, while trying to cut herself with a knife. I noticed, and alerted the people who were in charge of her at that time, and spoke with management. She was placed on high alert, and her bed was moved so that she could be watched at all times to make sure nothing else happened.

CLEAR FORK ELEMENTARY
2013 - 2014 Special Education Teacher – Elementary Life Skills Lockhart, TX
• Wrote individualized education plans focused on academic, social, and functional development for eleven students.
• Identified a case of student neglect and attempted to work with parents to resolve an issue of poor hygiene. When the parent did not remedy the issue over several weeks, I escalated the issue to the school administration and then CPS to ensure the child’s well being was prioritized
• Maintained open lines of communication with parents on weekly basis to provide status updates and give items they could work on with their children outside of school to improve life skills

SAN MARCOS HIGH SCHOOL
2012 - 2013 Assistant Life Skills Teacher San Marcos, TX
• Taught two math lessons per week
• Organized lesson materials and took notes for students in outclasses
• Performed healthcare services according to their IEP
• I noticed that the student I was assigned to take notes for throughout the day was struggling with paying attention; she had severe ADHD, and I worked out a schedule to do respite care for the family so that afterschool, I could help her on her homework and her parents could have a “break.”

BRIGHTSTAR CARE
2011 - 2012 Certified Nursing Assistance New Braunfels, TX
• Provided hospital and in home healthcare – commended by shift supervisor for work ethic and care provided to patients
• Created a strong bond with patients and increased business of company through referrals of happy customers
• Was informed that one of my co-workers had been stealing money from a patient/customer. We solved the issue, and I became the primary caregiver for the family.
• Noticed that a patient of mine needed emotional support as well as physical support as he was nearing the end of his treatments; I was able to provide the listening ear that he and his wife needed at the time; when he died I was invited to his funeral, and it was an honor to be there. We still keep in touch.

STEPPING STONE SCHOOL
2008 - 2010 Lead Preschool Teacher Austin, TX
• Planned classroom curriculum and activities according to their development needs for 25 students
• Created a curriculum for toddlers to two year olds for early childhood skills (e.g., fine motor, gross motor, reading comprehension, and sign language)
• There were a few students with behavior problems or physical disabilities; the regular education teachers sent them to me, and they were finally able to rest; also the infants in my care seemed to rest while I was holding them, whereas with others they would cry and squirm a lot. This is what prompted me to get certified in Special Ed when I was getting my teaching certification.
