About

I will be graduating from James Martin High school in May of 2024 from the STEm program. I will then be attending Hardin Simmons University in the fall of 2024 with a major in biochemistry and a minor in forensic science. The reason I chose this path is because my grandfather on my mothers side was a death row inmate for 32 years. He was convicted of three counts of capital murder but he was innocent. After his conviction new evidence was uncovered which proved his innocence however this was not enough to release him and he was executed in 2015. I met my grandfather through prison bars and learned of his story through my grandmother. I want to prevent that from happening to another family. I want to achieve this by simply being a part of the forensic process and definitely stating the facts about what the evidence presented is.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I intend to work in a forensics lab analyzing forensic evidence.

Outside the classroom

When I need to unwind and take a break from studying and school I will always do my nails. It started with just regular nail polish but I have since advanced to doing my own dip nail extensions and my own hard gel nails. I think that it relaxes me because I can't focus on school while I am doing my nails. It allows me to unwind and take my mind off of things. I also love changing my scenery whether it be going to target or just taking a walk through the park. If I am in a slump of some kind I will always try to leave the house to get some fresh air.

Volunteering

  • I volunteer at my school's NHS in order to get hours. I mainly helped tutor the middle school kids on Wednesdays and Tuesdays and made crafts for the local nursing homes on Saturdays.

  • While on a mission trip to Seattle Washington me and a group of teenagers helped volunteer at the annual Magnolia Summer Festival. We would do the jobs that nobody else really wanted to do. For example we were primarily in charge of checking the many trash cans and emptying the ones that were full. Besides the trash we would also help set up and take down the vendor tents and sell tickets to the bounce houses. The past two summers I have helped volunteer at the festival, but the first summer we helped lay mulch for an entire neighborhood in Queen Anns.
