About

Kayla Richardson, professionally known as DKyllv (duh-killa), was born and raised in Detroit. She was born to a Choctaw-Cherokee Mother and African-American father. She spent most of her youth drawing, writing and playing piano, which she believes is the best way to cope with past trauma. As a pre-teen, Kayla was exposed to gang violence, mental and sexual abuse. She moved from school to school and graduated from Benedictine High School in 2012. She also spent a short time at Henry Ford Community College to study theater arts.
Her acting career first began in at age 19 after working at multiple Jimmy John’s franchises with insignificant pay and had undergone dozens of cyber threats and bullying as she did in grade school. In 2016 she starred in Black Jesus: The Web Series and Black Dragon Films’ Fatal Brew. She began modeling professionally in 2017 with BKR Photography and worked as a stage manager for Cornbread Productions.
In January 2018, Kayla moved to Cherry Hill, NJ and launched her management company KYLLV MGMT. In 2020 she debuted her first mixtape ANTHEM and certified single In The Hood. She is a mental health advocate and uses her company JKay Gardens to spread awareness of mental pandemics and homelessness. When it comes to inspiration for her music, she looks to musical queens such as Beyonce, Cardi B, Erykah Badu and Megan Thee Stallion. The only question is “Why can’t women have it all?”
