About
Augusta University art department has given the opportunity to go on an amazing study abroad trip - the Netherlands & Belgium. Because of financial situations, I would never have dreamed of going out of the country. I've never even been on a plane before. My goal is to go to Holland in the spring. I am going to try every way possible to save money and fund-raise so I can complete my goals and my dream. This course from (March 30 - April 9 2017) will be a project-based excursion through Amsterdam & Brussels, two epicenters of history, art and culture in Europe. Students will research, develop, and implement contemporary art strategies as a means to explore Dutch & Belgian art in a cultural context. Emphasis will be placed on learning to encounter and engage a site as a resource for developing an emergent art practice. Students gain proficiency in collecting, evaluating, and interpreting a wide range of primary and secondary source materials, develop conceptual skills, methodologies and exhibit originality and expertise in making thoughtful and thorough creative research. This course will offer an experimental forum for developing an expanded body of work through Nomadic art strategies. This course will meet several times before leaving Europe. This class time will be used for presentations of critical cultural and historical information.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
After I graduate college, I plan on continuing to work at the cafe to save money to further my schooling.I will also continue to curate art shows and to hang my artwork there as well. From saving money, I would either choose to go to grad school or to go back to Augusta University for the new MAT program that provides educational courses so that I am able to teach public schools. With my Undergrad degree, I can teach art in private schools, but I want to be a high school art teacher. I have also thought about working for a pigment shop that makes paints for paint companies such as the Gold Paint Co. I enjoy making artwork alone in my studio, but I know my creative juices flow more around other creative people and having the luxury of relying on feedback and critique when working with others as well. I feel as though whether I were around young adults who had passion for art, or to work with other artists together for one product is a great team-building system which allows time to interact with others, and to learn how to work hard and to work toward an end goal or end product. I also plan on applying for an internship at the Morris Museum, for experience and to build up my resume. No matter what I do, I will always paint, I will always love and have a deep passion for art, and I plan to build my life around it. It will take me where it leads me. I will continue to keep working hard and strive for excellence in my performance as a student as well as for my future.
- Graduate school interests
Any Grad School located in the state of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, or Colorado. I plan to on focus on Art Therapy during my time in Grad School.
- Outside the classroom
In my spare time, if I am not at school, I am working. It is not just an ordinary job - it's a coffee shop or cafe that also holds art shows every 6 to 8 weeks. I have been working there for over five years, (since I was 17 years old in high school and have worked there through my college career). I've curated the art shows which include many diverse local and non-local artists throughout the area. These artists all obtain different talents whether it be photography, painting, mixed-media, ceramics, quilting, knitting, drawings, and more. I have worked with these artists one on one, had the pleasure of getting to know them, and have helped them work toward a successful show along with getting there name out there. My interests involve making artwork for myself and others. Out of all of the mediums to choose from, painting is my passion. I paint with oils, acrylics, gouache, watercolor, and ink and love to draw with charcoal and chalk pastels. My concentration is BFA drawing and painting. I have taken almost all of the various art classes to choose from and I admittedly have a love for them all. When I am not at home, school or work, I like to travel, hike, and camp for fun. I love a new experience and it also allows for me to be physically and mentally refreshed when I come back into reality.
