About

I am currently in my sophomore year at Southern New Hampshire University where I am studying Psychology and Addictions. I am an online student and currently lives in Harrisburg Pennsylvania where I work with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I am an asylee and have been living in the United States for 4 years without my family and have been seeking out ways to help change the lives of those who may be less fortunate as a result of disabilities of addictions. In my spare time, I like to paint, help friends at the gym and teach people how to create Caribbean dishes. In high school I was in the schools choir for 3 years, the optimist club, the debate and student leaders club as well as the modern language association. I am currently working full-time and completing a total of three classes every term online. Many ask how I do it, my philosophy is "If you want to get something done in a timely manner, give it to a busy man".

Goals and interests

Career goal

Since I have been working in the field of human services for over 3 years, I believe remaining in the field is a great idea. The plan is to apply for a case worker or a programs specialist at the company I currently work while pursuing a masters degree in psychology or a related discipline. Doing this will allow for a stable transition into the field of psychology while ensuring I am still able to study and accomplish my goals. The main idea is to be able to influence changes in my organization as well as enhance the lives of the people we take care of.

Graduate school interests

After completing my bachelor's degree in Psychology, I intend to pursue either a graduate degree with a focus on educational or counseling psychology. If by then I feel the need to branch out into something that may be more specific to the Human Services, I may pursue a social work graduate degree. These disciplines would help me to be able to sit licensing examinations as well as be able to function in capacities which are more influential.

Outside the classroom

I enjoy painting oils on canvas, multi-pieced paintings, I love helping others at the gym, cooking Caribbean dishes and studying cars. Engaging in controversial conversations is also a favorite pastime of mine as it opens my mind to the many opinions and perceptions others may have about life.
