About

I have maintained a GPA of 3.25 or higher, while challenging myself in AP Spanish, Physics, and Computer Science. Although I didn't get the A that I wanted in any of those classes, I did learn much about organization, self-advocating, and networking. I always kept all of the work from the classes so I could ask for help at coach class and from my classmates. I don't speak fluent Spanish, but I made up the difference in reading and writing. I still struggle with my response time in Spanish conversations. In AP Computer Science and Physics I struggled from the beginning because they were courses I know nothing about. With a lot of extra coach class and studying I was able to maintain a B in the course and learned a lot of problem solving and logical thinking.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Although I don't know all of the different paths I could take with chemical engineering, I do know I have a passion to help those with special needs. I want to work with those of similar goals to achieve greater. In the future I plan to find better treatments for those with mental illness and more effective therapeutic treatment for those with learning disabilities and social development hindrances. While chemical engineering can lead to many careers in sanitation and energy, I believe my skills will be best used to help people lives improve in school and in the work place.

Graduate school interests

I was accepted into the J.B. Speed School at the University of Louisville. In the speed school program I will be able to get my Master's in 5 years through year round school -- Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters-- and 3 co-ops at companies that will train me in my field.

Outside the classroom

In my junior and senior years of high school, I threw shot put and discus for my school's track team. I went to State Championships for both indoor and outdoor for the 2015-2016 school year in shot put. I now hold the school record for indoor shot put.
I babysit children with special needs, mainly autism. I worked with children in our Sunday school program at church and with the autistic children from August 2012- June 2016.
