Kiarash Shamardani

I am a Junior majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of California, Berkeley and a pre-medicine student looking forward to pursue a career in Oncology. I am currently a member of Prof. Barton's lab where we study the evolution of self/non-self discrimination strategies within the innate immune system. I am a recipient of Berkeley Undergraduate Scholarship which is awarded to a select group of students who demonstrate outstanding intellectual abilities and potential.
I graduated with honors and transferred with 4.0 GPA from West Valley College (a California Community College) to UC Berkeley. I did a three months internship as a research assistant at Stanford University School of Medicine and also volunteered for over a year at Stanford Hospital Cancer Center.
I believe my academic and extracurricular achievements along with my perseverance in achieving my educational and professional goals in life, makes me a great fit to become a member of the Honor Society.
