About

Welcome all! My name is Kierra Crear and I am a twenty-three, full-time student at the illustrious University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I'm from Wilmington, North Carolina and love to go to the beach, listen to music, and traveling to see my family. I earned my Associates degree in December of 2018 and am almost complete with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I am a middle sister of three daughters and am a first-generation college student! I know the psychology career path is for me because this is my "dream" job. If I had the ability to achieve anything in this world, I'd still choose this route because of how passionate I feel towards the art of psychology. I'm eager to meet individuals with the same passion and drive as me to make this world truly a better place!

Goals and interests

Career goal

I've always wanted a career that assists in making my surrounding community a consistently improving environment. I chose psychology because, what better way to assist the community then by understanding the individuals who consist of it? My main concentration and goal right now is to improve the rate of imprisonment amongst black men in America. I want to obtain an occupation like a correctional caseworker, social worker, or crime analyst. I've gained insight on human behavior and thought processes, now I'd like to adjust my focus on criminals and implement ways to improve their mental health, aid in the families affected, and prevent from future instances to occur again.

Graduate school interests

I'm interested in pursing a Masters in Criminal Justice. I feel that this is a great gateway to many altering occupations that I could choose from while still utilizing my Bachelors in Psychology.

Outside the classroom

Some of the activities that I enjoy are relaxing on the beach, reading a fiction novel, watching documentaries, and spending time with my friends and family. I'm usually busy with schoolwork and work itself, so when I do have some free time, I typically try to do so in a peaceful way. Fun extracurricular activities that I enjoy are rollercoasters, waterparks, rollerblading, four-wheeling, and arcade games.
