About
I began my college career at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona where I began as an Art Major. I ended up switching to a major in Anthropology while simultaneously earning Archaeological Field work certificates. I graduated from Pima Community College with an Associates degree in Anthropology for a seamless transfer to the University of Arizona. I began at University of Arizona pursuing a BS in Biological Anthropology. I had one more arts credit that I needed to fulfill and I had always loved creative writing so I took a poetry class and fell in love. I wanted to somehow add this love of writing into my major. I searched for different options and ended up finding the Interdisciplinary Studies degree at the University of Arizona. It allowed me to create my own degree which I formed from three different areas of study; Anthropology, Religious Studies, and Creative Writing:Poetry. My degree plan went before a board and was accepted by The University of Arizona. I am extremely happy and excited about my degree and I am set to graduate from The University of Arizona in May 2015.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
There is so much I want to do with my degree and I feel the decision to move forward with the Interdisciplinary Studies degree keeps my options open and makes me a unique candidate for future employment. I will continue my creative writing. I will utilize my archaeological certificates in Southwestern Cultures and Lab and Field Methods. I see myself employed at a museum like the Smithsonian or even the Arizona State Museum. I also see myself employed within special collections at a university library. I would be happy having a job writing for a newspaper, magazine, creative writing journal, or anthropology/ archaeology journal. I also would be happy doing religious studies research as well. I feel with experience in both Anthropology/ Archaeology and Religious Studies that I have a strong, well rounded background for starting and assisting with research in these areas.
- Graduate school interests
I hope to continue my education earning either an MFA in Poetry or a Masters in Religious Studies.
- Outside the classroom
I love to read and write poetry as well as short stories. I love to play flute and have been playing since I was 10 years old. I also love playing piccolo and I am learning to play guitar at the moment. Music has always been a very important part of my life. I have played in concert band in Middle school and high school as well as being extremely involved in marching band in high school. I even played Green Valley concert band for a time. I also really enjoy drawing, my favorite medium in charcoal. I also enjoy calligraphy. Horseback riding is another hobby of mine which I have not had too much time for but which I plan to get involved in again.
