About
Hello. My name is Kristen Schultz and I am extremely interested in becoming a future educator. To start off, I am one of three children. In better terms, I am a triplet. I am from a suburb of Chicago and am currently a junior at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. My interests include reading, physical activity/working out, working/being with children, getting involved, meeting new people, and learning new things. I have found that throughout life, you encounter a lot of new individuals as well as ideas. It is essential to be proactive and open minded, especially in the field of teaching. I would like to be certified in the level of elementary education as I have worked and interacted with elementary level children consistently throughout my life. My area of concentration inside elementary education would be second or third grade. I chose second or third grade because I remember thoroughly enjoying those years of schooling. Second and third grade is also a transition year; you learn a lot of your basic knowledge in these years of schooling. The decision to become a teacher, originates back to when my two sisters and I would play “school.” It started out as fun and games until I couldn't stop imagining myself as a future teacher. I played school all the time; I would even ask my teachers if I could keep my books at the end of the year so that I could use them while playing. I even went to my aunt’s summer school class to help out and experience the teaching environment. I just knew that was what I wanted to do with my life. I really enjoy being with kids and to help them prepare for their future would be one of the many joys of being a teacher.
