About

Hi, I'm LaNy'ja. I am 18 years old and I will be attending The University of Southern Mississippi in the Fall of 2020. I have always wanted to attend this school because of their great benefits. Also because this school is a HBCU, which is a school I have always wanted to experience. Everyone that I know that goes there, loves it and I just want to enjoy it too. I like having fun but also getting what I need to do done and I have heard USM is known for that. I am excited to start my journey at USM!

Goals and interests

Career goal

My particular job path is to be a Forensic Scientist. I have always liked Science and anything related to it. As a kid, I used to always watch crime series like CSI, I would be fascinated to how well they did their job. It is also not a repetitive profession, which is something that I hate. I like excitement and new things, which is why I chose this job path. A Forensic Scientist's job is never the same which is what I like. This way I can solve crimes but not completely be on the frontline of it all. I really think this is something that I would enjoy doing for the rest of my life.

Graduate school interests

In college I plan to be way more active than I was in high school. I want to join clubs, groups, and socialize more. This is the first group that I have joined so far, so I think I have got a good start. I also want to have fun because college is also about enjoying yourself. I just have to keep a steady balance of fun and work, if I can do those two things I will be okay. I am really excited about the Biology programs that they offer because that is what I love. I also want to find a good extracurricular class to be involved with.
