Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended career path is to become a family law attorney, where I can advocate for the rights and well-being of families and children facing legal challenges. This area of law resonates deeply with my personal values and commitment to social justice because I believe that everyone deserves equitable representation and support during difficult times.
I plan to gain practical experience through internships and volunteer opportunities while studying at Texas A&M University, particularly in programs that focus on family law or related social services. By working directly with clients in legal clinics or community outreach programs, I hope to deepen my understanding of the legal system while honing my advocacy and negotiation skills.
Moreover, my background and experiences as a single mother have equipped me with unique insights into the challenges faced by families. I am motivated to be an advocate who not only understands the legalities but also empathizes with the emotional aspects of family law cases. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment for my clients, empowering them to make informed decisions and feel confident in their legal representation.
In the long term, I aspire to establish my own practice, where I can continue to advocate for families and potentially engage in policy work that addresses broader issues affecting family law, such as access to legal resources and advocacy for systemic reform. Ultimately, my intention is to be a voice for those who may feel powerless in the face of legal challenges, working tirelessly to ensure that every family has access to the justice they deserve.
Through this career path, I hope to not only advance my professional goals but also make a meaningful difference in the lives of my clients and the community at large.

Graduate school interests

I am very interested in pursuing graduate studies at Texas A&M University, specifically in their Juris Doctor (JD) program, as I believe it will be pivotal in advancing my career goals in family law. Texas A&M’s commitment to academic excellence, combined with its reputation for producing skilled professionals, aligns perfectly with my aspirations to become a compassionate and effective family law attorney.
One of the primary reasons Texas A&M attracts me is its strong emphasis on experiential learning and community engagement. The opportunity to participate in clinics and internships through the university’s Legal Clinics would provide me with invaluable hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the complexities of family law. I am particularly excited about the chance to work directly with clients, as this aligns with my dedication to serving individuals and families in need.
Additionally, Texas A&M’s interdisciplinary approach to education is appealing. Programs related to social work and public policy can provide valuable insights into the challenges families face within the legal system. Collaborating with students from such programs would enrich my educational experience and enhance my ability to advocate effectively for those I will serve.
Moreover, I am drawn to Texas A&M's strong sense of community and commitment to leadership development. The core values of integrity, respect, and service resonate deeply with my personal mission to create positive change in the legal field. I am eager to engage with fellow students and faculty who share this dedication, as I believe that collaboration and support will be fundamental in shaping my growth as a leader and advocate.
In summary, the prospect of attending Texas A&M University for graduate school excites me because it represents a significant step in my journey toward achieving my goal of becoming a family law attorney. I look forward to deepening my knowledge, gaining practical experience, and forging lasting connections within a community that values excellence and social responsibility.
