About
I am a third year student at Pace University studying biology and neuroscience. I want to be a neurosurgeon eventually, as well as conduct research. I am currently working in a lab with my professor studying the effects of certain mutations on neuron function. My goal is to work with stroke patients and other people with traumatic brain injuries in a critical care setting, which was cemented when I had an internship with a neurosurgeon my senior year of high school. My dream is to work with patients who need a lot of care and to be able to provide that care as their surgeon and doctor. My lab position is allowing me to learn about neuroscience on the micro scale, which is essential to understanding how to care for patients in a clinical setting.
My friends are a huge part of my life. They are scattered around Canada and the US, and we were brought together by writing and publishing. While some of my friends still pursue these passions, a few of us have been pulled to science. They are a constant inspiration for me to do my best and be my best self.
Goals and interests
- Career goal
My dream is to be a critical care doctor as well as continue to study molecular neuroscience in a lab setting.
- Graduate school interests
I hope to enter an MD/PhD program at a university such as Columbia.
- Outside the classroom
I enjoy writing, even though I'm not sure I will finish any of my novels at this point. I love reading sci fi books and any other books I can get my hands on. I love reading open access journals and neuroscience books. My best friend has taught me to crochet and cross stitch, which I've been attempting to master. I love going to new places and working with my hands.
