About

I am currently a freshman at the University of North Dakota and am majoring in Music Performance with an emphasis on vocal performance. Throughout high school, I have competed in many music competitions and have participated in the University of North Dakota Honor Choir, The NDSU Honor Choir, the Concordia Honor Choir, and the North Dakota Allstate Honor Choir. I have also worked in FCCLA in high school and went to nationals in Atlanta, Georgia for competition. This past summer I was a member of the Voyagers International Northern Ambassadors of Music and traveled to 7 different countries in Europe to sing. I worked very hard in Highschool and became Valedictorian of my graduating class. I am very passionate about education as well as music. I know nothing comes without hard work and I have always known that if I want to make it in the music industry I have to work hard. I am honored to become a member of the Honors Society because they recognize my hard work and achievement and I hope to inspire and help others reach their goals as well.

Goals and interests

Career goal

With my major, I intend to use it to help follow the path to being a professional singer. I will most likely be working in classical music and musical theatre with this degree. I can also go on to work for different opera companies around the world (I've been looking at one in Germany).

Graduate school interests

If I were to choose to attend grad school, I would go for vocal pedagogy so I could have a better understanding of the muscles we singers use in the throat and to perfect my technique to the best of my advantage for singing and to learn ways to safely grow my range. Haveing a better understanding of the muscles I use with allow me to optimise my singing and to also possibly help me teach others on the best vocal technique for them.

Outside the classroom

I enjoy working in music in any way I can. I enjoy working in music involving recording/songwriting of music for myself. I also enjoy singing in different churches in my community to help bring people together through song. I enjoy reading very much and also like to paint in my spare time. I enjoy getting active any way I can like running, water skiing, snow skiing, going to the gym, or even just walking.
