About

Hi! My name is Lily Wyatt, and I am a senior in high school. I live on a ranch in New Mexico and have been homeschooled since fourth grade. I know what it's like to put in my best work every time, even if it's during an 80mph sandstorm, a winter morning below freezing, or an oppressively hot summer afternoon. My family relies heavily on each member fulfilling his or her responsibility, and it has made me realize the importance of doing one's duty in life.

Despite living in an agricultural area, I have played the violin since I was five and have studied with several notable teachers. My performance experiences include, orchestral, chamber, quartet, trio, and solo work. Additionally, I was honored to be the 2026 NM All-State Concertmaster. I can't count how formative for my character music education has been. It has taught me how to persevere despite hardship, how to take critique impersonally, how to practice real humility, how to find courage even in terrifying situations, how to sacrifice for a greater cause, and how to work with others to create something that transcends an individual.

When I'm not busy training horses or practicing my violin, I love to write fantasy novels, take long, inspiring walks, read classic literature, learn new languages, and travel. It is a fancy of mine to know at least four languages fluently, and one day, to use them in traveling across Europe.

My future plans include attending the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, where I will major in violin performance and receive certification in arts entrepreneurship.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Long term, I hope to open my own violin studio. I understand that excepting parents, teachers are the most influential people in our lives. I can attest to having a few outstanding teachers whose love for their craft and for the music they taught was contagious. It is my hope that I too can help others find a love for music, and give them the gift of being able to actually make it!
