About
I have been an educator for 20 years. I started out in early childhood, teaching in a small rural Montessori school. Although I majored in elementary education at UD Mercy, once I did my student teachingI never set foot in an elementary classroom. I had planned on working in a middle school, but I was hired by an alternative high school and I fell in love with the students and staff. During my 10 years at Mott Adult/Alternative High School, I re-invented myself many times to fit the ever-changing needs in our school. I went from teaching reading, writing and math improvement to teaching computer classes, interior design & floral aide; I became our building EDP coordinator and went on to teach Senior Management, novels, drama and an art class. I became our building Professional Development chair, as well as chairing several committees. Eventually, I moved into administration, working as an academic advisor performing all the duties of an assistant principal. This prompted me to pursue my second MA in k-12 administration. Now that the Flint district closed MAHS, I am looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life.
