About
Hi!
My name is Lolade Adams, and I am originally from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. My academic journey began at York University in Toronto, where I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology. This foundational education sparked my passion for understanding human behavior and mental health, which led me to further pursue a graduate certificate in Addictions and Mental Health from St. Lawrence College. This program provided me with a deeper understanding of the complexities of mental health challenges and addictions, and strengthened my commitment to working in the field of counseling.
Currently, I am pursuing my Master of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. This program is enhancing my clinical skills, giving me advanced training in therapeutic approaches, mental health assessments, and evidence-based interventions. My coursework and hands-on training are preparing me to provide effective support to individuals struggling with mental health issues, trauma, and addiction.
My ultimate goal is to become a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and, in the future, open my own private practice. I am passionate about creating a safe, empathetic, and supportive environment for individuals seeking help with their mental health. By blending my education, personal values, and hands-on experience, I hope to provide accessible and high-quality mental health care to those in need.
Throughout my academic career, I have developed a solid foundation in psychological theory, counseling techniques, and client-centered approaches. Additionally, my work in addictions and mental health has given me the tools to understand the unique needs of clients dealing with substance use and other related challenges. I am committed to ongoing learning and professional development to ensure I remain well-equipped to support diverse populations and meet the evolving needs of the mental health field.
In summary, I am driven by my passion for mental health and my desire to make a positive impact on individuals and communities. I look forward to continuing my education and clinical training, while striving to one day establish my own practice that prioritizes the well-being and mental health of those who seek help.

Volunteering

STILL VOLUNTEERING The Certified Listener's Society is a non-profit organization based in Canada, dedicated to providing emotional support to individuals worldwide. As a volunteer emotional chat responder, I engage in online conversations with people from various backgrounds who come to the organization seeking a safe, non-judgmental space to express their feelings. These individuals often reach out to vent about personal challenges, stress, or emotional difficulties they may be facing in their lives. In my role, I listen actively and empathetically, offering a compassionate presence for those in need. While I do not provide professional therapy, I offer emotional validation, provide resources, and suggest helpful coping strategies to empower individuals in navigating their struggles. The Certified Listener’s Society is a valuable platform for those seeking a lending ear and a sense of connection, particularly for those who may feel isolated or overwhelmed. Volunteering in this capacity has reinforced my belief in the power of empathetic listening and the importance of offering support to people during difficult times. I am honored to be a part of an organization that prioritizes mental well-being and provides a much-needed outlet for people to be heard and understood.
