About
I am a current student at Community College of Baltimore County in Maryland. After I graduated from high school in 2013, I went to cosmetology school, became a licensed cosmetologist, and worked in that field for eight years. During that time, I took some college classes here and there but was experiencing mental and physical health issues and was unable to settle on a program of study. In 2021, I became interested in helping others through counseling and decided to leave the salon industry and pursue my associate degree. In October of 2021, I began volunteering at One Promise Counseling & Education, and in November I was offered employment providing case management services to clients. Now, in 2022, I qualify for Alcohol & Drug Trainee status with the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. I am passionate about this work, grateful for the path I am on, and very hopeful for my future in this field. I have a long road ahead of me academically, as I am an adult working student. I'm interested in eventually receiving a master's degree in counseling.
