About

I have always had a passionate love for both the agricultural industry and writing and communications. When I discovered that the universities in my province did not have an agricultural communications program, I looked into schools in the United States and found an Ag Communications major at the University of Kentucky. I have now completed my first semester as a freshman at UK, finishing my preliminary courses with a 4.0 average. My academic achievements have allowed me to be part of the Honor Roll, Dean's List, and consideration for the Chellgren Fellows Program at my University. I have always had a special interest in agricultural journalism, but I recognize the importance of communications in all areas. This being said, I would be interested in any field to benefit communications.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I intend to put my studies towards a career in the agricultural industry. Specifically, I hope to pursue a career in agricultural journalism, working in the communications sector of the agricultural industry with emphasis in the dairy sector. I also have an interest in agricultural law, something that would benefit greatly from my current major as well.

Graduate school interests

After my undergrad, I am interested in obtaining a Masters and PhD in Agricultural Communications/Journalism to further my studies. I also have interest in attending Law School to potentially pursue a career in Agricultural Law in the future.

Outside the classroom

I have a wide variety of hobbies and general interests that I feel enrich my life. Reading and writing have always been a large hobby of mine, and I have an extensive collection of classical English and French literature, as well as various other novels and poems. I have always participated in multiple competitions for writing and compositions in both prose and poetry, being published at a provincial level. From this, I have developed a love of languages, devoting a great deal of time to the study of both English and French. I hope someday to learn Spanish and Italian and possibly more, as I have a large passion for travel and cultures worldwide as well. My agricultural background has provided many hobbies for me as well, with showing and working with dairy cattle as a large one. I have competitively worked with dairy cows since I was three years old, and it is easily my largest passion. Music is another passion of mine, and I spend a great deal of my time listening to music and singing/playing piano which I have done for most of my life. Sports were also a large part of my life, with my playing of competitive softball since the age of 7 and competitive volleyball throughout high school.
