About

Dreams without goals leave us standing still! My name is Makayla, and as someone raised in a family devoted to helping others, I have always accepted opportunities to make a difference. Instead of accepting that I do not belong in this world, I would rather make my mark to show others that we all belong. My dream is for us to unite to make this world a better place. I have volunteered at local organizations, completed academic and service-oriented projects to help the homeless and people that are in need.

I am currently a sophomore at Triton College, maintaining a 3.9 grade point average. My dedication to academic excellence has earned me a place on the President’s list as well as a Phi Theta Kapa Honor Society member. I understand that life is full of challenges and for this reason I want to study psychology and criminal Justice so I can help others navigate life. Additionally, I want to become a profiler, helping prevent crimes and protecting communities.

Motivated by the experience I have had serving my community, I am committed to continuing these efforts while pursuing my degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The scholarship will enable me to continue to develop my skills and contribute to society. I am excited to embrace the next stage in my life to support others, learn continuously, and make a positive impact wherever I can so that we the people will not be standing still!
