About

Hard of Hearing 22 year old with the leading goal of making a positive difference on the people and world around me. I believe that the best way for me to do that with my skills in reading and writing along with my empathetic personality would be to work in the cultural anthropology field. I am unsure exactly where this path will take me career-wise, but I am currently focused on learning as much as I can about deaf/hard of hearing culture so that I can work with leaders in both communities to help advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and potentially help the next generation of hard of hearing/deaf kids succeed. As a kid who grew up with hearing aids his whole life and who struggled intensely with bullying and not feeling like I fit into deaf or hearing culture I want to use my success with college and my career to show other young kids with similar experiences that they can do whatever they set their minds too. This is a cause deeply important to me because growing up I didn't have any role models to look up who I felt understood my struggles being hard of hearing.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Currently the plan is to work as a cultural anthropology field and to research deaf/ hard of hearing cultures as well as how hearing culture can better accommodate for and work with them.

Graduate school interests

I may want to pursue a master's degree although currently I am just focused on my next degree which is my Bachelors in Cultural Anthropology.

Outside the classroom

I have many hobbies outside of work and school. I enjoy reading fiction books for fun and non-fiction books to expand my knowledge of the world and learn from other's experiences. I play video games with friends which has been invaluable for my social experiences during this pandemic. I began video-game livestreaming in May of 2019 and have begun to build an inclusive community through it. I received my first paycheck in November of 2020 and my channel is now considered my own business. During the 2020 holiday season I raised over $1500 for a charity Feeding America through a combination of my livestreaming community and reaching out to family/friends. Recently I began watching Anime and have absolutely loved that experience so far. I also definitely like to relax and watch YouTube a bit. In warmer weather I like hiking with my puppy Tinkerbell and exploring new food places.
