Marissa Seago

I am currently a student at Kansas State University studying Psychology and Pre-Nursing. After receiving my Undergraduate degree in Psychology, I plan on attending Nursing School at either Kansas University Medical School, Washburn University, or Fort Hays State. I greatly enjoy working with kids, so I plan on taking either my Psychiatric Nursing degree or Nursing degree to a children's hospital. The hospital of preference is Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. I have a good deal of jobs and volunteer work under my belt when it comes to working with children, and I hope to one day have that same experience in the medical field. I have volunteered as a supervisor or "camp counselor" at Vacation Bible School and as a 3rd grade teacher in Religious Education at Mater Dei Catholic School in Topeka. I was also an Assistant Teacher at Mater Dei Child Care Center where I worked primarily with infants and toddlers, during the summer of 2011 before continuing onto K-State. I also spent the summer of 2013 as a Camp Counselor at the YMCA SW Discovery Camp in Topeka where I primarily worked with School Aged children. Nursing is a new career path to me as I originally was only planning on having a Psychology major. The more I'm around friends and family in the Nursing field, the more my passion to help people both mentally and physically stands out. I want to help people and society in general and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me.
