About
A musical actor, a musician, a writer, a math major (before theatre and music started going so well), a mental health professional—I am Matthew Theberge.
I am passionate about spreading joy. Whether through writing, making music, or leading groups of mentally-ill residential clients, I am happy when I behold my impact.
I am seeking to relocate.
For education, I have completed an associate degree liberal arts—math & science. I started as a psychology major with SNHU online. For a year, I earned a 4.0 GPA in every class, including frequent, sustained strings of straight 100s. Numerous professors have noted my writing as "gifted" (Professor Deidre Estes, Intro to Psychology), my wisdom and cultural analysis as "precocious" (Professor Henry Blackthorn, The Four Lenses of the Liberal Arts), my discussion prompts as clearly superior to my peers (Henry Blackthorn), and my responses going into abstracts beyond the concrete expectations of the prompts (Professor Melissa Jenks, Developmental Psychology). Upon moving cross country to California, I switched my major to mathematics and completed a well-rounded associate degree. I have been congratulated for my leadership in class (Professor Frank Cruz, English Composition II), for being the star (Professor Bruce Brant, Precalc II), and for being one of a professor’s best students ever (Professor Mark Williams, History of Rock Music).
Professionally, I am currently a shuttle driver for an on-demand ride-share service in the beautiful South Lake Tahoe.
My longest background is in human services, having worked as residential support in a group home and in a PHP/IOP rehab for AA. I have been a part of a team managing up to seventy clients. Beyond the concrete basics of behavioral intervention and medication organization and administration, of which I have completed many trainings toward certifications and CEUs, I would spreading joy. These homes did not have structured recreation, but even so, I contributed my own drums and guitars, which amounted to many formations of client jam bands, wore and spread around costume pieces, played ping-pong, and would attract bunches of them in heats of ad-libbing. The clients in these homes need laughs, badly, and the anosognosia that can go along with, say, schizophrenia, can only be counteracted through establishing trust. And rehab should be as fun as possible.
In short, I am ENFJ, the protagonist. I am a gentleman, a scholar, a creative, an empath, an extravert. I am incandescent. I am a leader.
