Mayra Torres

Hello Everyone! My name is Mayra Torres. I am happily married and a Step-Mom to two beautiful teens. I was born in Michoacan, Mexico, Raised in California and now live in Iowa. I am super excited in to completing my degree in Information in Technical Science and Systems. I am a first generation student and I am excited to be able to make my oarenta proud for their hard work and sacrifices they have made to come to this country. They immigrated me when I was only 5 years old and have been here since. I knew technology would be the best path for me because I remember being the only kid in my neighborhood with a computer. I have been working for Verizon for the past 7 years, so I know tech was the right path for me. I balance work, school, being a wife and to top it off, a soccer mom too. My unique skills are definitely in the technology field and customer service. I have been helping people and sharing my knowledge with technology for the past 7 years and I plan to continue this path as I develop my career. I am bilingual. Fluent in English and Spanish. In most businesses today, it is a great skill to know multiple languages and the goal is to be a great asset to any company. I love to learn new things and technology is a field that will constantly evolve and grow. Some other skills I would love to grow on as well, besides being a mom, are leadership and communication. Not only to grow mentally but economically as well. My family and friends know that they can always count on me for anything when it comes to completing tasks and to getting things done. I love to travel, read, eat and make memories with my family! My journey from start to finish has always felt different and inspired me to keep going.
