About

Resourceful and dedicated natural leader who uses my solid organization, planning/time management, problem-solving and communication skills to provide excellent customer service and guidance to students that I tutor. Whenever I have worked and in my classes, I am always asked by my supervisor (and co-workers) or teachers (and students) to help train or tutor them. This is because I enjoy learning, challenging myself, and pushing myself to learn new things; that often makes me have to sit back, take a breathe, and figure out how to "attack" the material. This, in turn, helps me figure out the best way to communicate with people I train and/or tutor, to make the content easy for them to grasp. My critical thinking skills also help me figure out more efficient or "connected" ways to complete a task, again, making it easier for all of us to understand. By helping people understand hard topics, I hope to encourage them to push themselves and believe in themselves more, and to also make them enjoy learning just as much as I do.

I am also a visionary in the sense that I think ahead to how things/situations can be better. I enjoy working in groups and with people, and hearing their thoughts, because I’m able to gather different information from my group members that I probably wouldn’t have been able to find by myself. That then helps me make better decisions and be more open-minded when working with and helping others.

I strive to be a well-rounded professional, yet, still have fun and enjoy my journey while growing along the way. I'm dedicated to continuing my academic pursuits at the college level; and also looking forward to continuing supporting others, too.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My great-uncle moved about the outskirts of our family gatherings with matted hair, tattered, unwashed clothing and smelling of poor hygiene. A vet suffering from PTSD and unchecked mental disabilities, much of my family ignored his existence; however, his mother, my great grandmother, was a beacon of light for him, and in a strange way, for me, too: she refused to allow him to fade completely into the shadows; she continued to care and work with him despite her limited knowledge in dealing with mental disabilities. Inspired to help heal people who can’t fix their situation alone, my life’s vocation became clear: earn a medical degree in psychiatry to make accessible high-quality care, support, and education to people and families dealing with mental disabilities within disadvantaged communities.

Society is only as strong as its weakest link, and when we search outside ourselves for strength, we have found our greatest weakness. We must re-build our communities from the inside out to ensure each member is able to contribute meaningfully. As a trained psychiatrist, I will identify and diagnose the key issues that plague patients and their families in proper context, in a timely fashion to prescribe treatment plans that will help people re-gain flow in their lives. Moreover, I will grow family members’ understanding, patience and compassion via education and clear, committed guidance on how to navigate the very difficult journey. I will re-connect families and society through restoring hope; offering a hand to pull “the lost” back into the fold to live with purpose.
