Goals and interests

Career goal

Within the next 5 years, my goal is to be working for a Public Relations firm as an account manager in the DFW area. I further intend to acquire certification to become an ASL interpreter as well.

Outside the classroom

My penchant for storytelling began at a young age, stemming from the yearning to escape the shell of shyness that I had so thoroughly cloaked myself in. I acquired a notebook and began filling the pages with poems and short stories and the outlines of dozens of novel ideas; various tales with different versions of myself spilled onto the pages. In my imagination, I was a sword wielding hero, a princess in distress, an astronaut exploring outer space, a spell casting wizard, a mad scientist in her lab; writing these stories on a page almost made them seem real. It wasn’t until I discovered theatre that these fantasies were able to play out in real life. Books and journals had gotten me through the early years, but my discovery of theatre offered me the chance to actually fall down the rabbit hole and enter a tangible fantasy realm. I found that in acting I was able to transform into a naive girl from Kansas caught up in a twister (Wizard of OZ) to a brilliant but poor girl living in the barrio of Washington Heights seeking a college education (In the Heights). Now, it was more than just reading about other cultures, I was finally able to immerse myself in other worlds in an interactive way. Theatre offered me a way of hands on, full-body learning and I loved it. Through the experience that I have gained performing, I am able to continuously grow and mature into a much more dynamic, well rounded person.
