About

Hello everyone! I'm a current Herzing University student on the PMHNP tract with an expected graduation date of April 2024. Balancing working full time, doing school full time, and attending clinicals has been incredibly difficult but even with all of that I've been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA! I have two bachelors degrees one is psychology from University of Florida and one in nursing from University of Central Florida. Both have allowed me to excel in my career path and have made me a better person and a better student. They have taught me about self-discipline, determination, and the importance of hard work. I am passionate about mental health and am excited to be apart of the change to break the stigma towards it.

Goals and interests

Career goal

After graduation I hope to get a job working with the child & adolescent population as a PMHNP. My passion lies in this population because I feel it is so important to start interventions early and to provide support for these individuals who may not have support elsewhere. Research suggests that the higher the ACE score the higher the change of development of both mental and physical health problems. By intervening early this lowers the chance of this occurring. Once I've worked for awhile and gained experience I plan to open my own practice including holistic services that will treat this population as a whole. There is so much more to mental health than just providing medication. I hope to be able to make a change in the community I live in by offering reasonable costs to services so that all in need can receive the help and assistance they deserve.

Graduate school interests

My hobbies include: reading, hiking, visiting the beach, playing with my dog and cats, yoga, and as weird as it sounds reading scholarly reviewed articles.

  • Registered Nurse

After graduation I got my first job doing home health nursing with the child & adolescent population. This job made a huge impact on my life and allowed me to meet some amazing individuals who suffered from a variety of medical conditions. Working alone required quick and critical thinking and allowed me to develop these skills that I still use to this day.

    Jun 2020 – Jun 2021

  • Motivational Coach

I had the ability after graduating with my degree in psychology to work as a motivational coach at a middle school doing group and individual therapy with adolescents who were seen as at-risk. They had a variety of mental health diagnoses and I was able to provide them the support and coping skills to excel in both their personal life and academic life. The adolescents I worked with made a huge impact on how I viewed mental health and inspired me to go back to school to become a PMHNP.
