About
Throughout my academic journey as a single parent of four children, I have faced numerous challenges, yet my determination to provide the best life for my family has remained unwavering. Despite working two part-time jobs, I made the bold decision to enroll in a full-time Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, driven by my passion and the desire to make a difference.
Balancing the responsibilities of family, work, and studies has been demanding, and there were times when I felt overwhelmed and discouraged. However, I refused to give up. Despite these challenges, I take great pride in consistently achieving Dean's List honors every semester of my BSN program. This accomplishment reflects my unwavering commitment to academic excellence and serves as a testament to my dedication and perseverance.
Beyond being a personal triumph, my academic success has inspired my children to pursue their own dreams and aspirations. I strive to show them that through hard work and focus, anything is attainable. My achievements in school are not only the result of my individual determination but also the unwavering support and love of my family. Looking ahead, I am enthusiastic about continuing my academic journey and inspiring others to pursue their dreams despite the challenges they may face.
The global pandemic acted as a catalyst, urging me to embark on a new chapter that would make a meaningful impact. Transitioning from cosmetology to nursing felt like a natural progression, reigniting my passion and fortitude as I returned to school. It was crucial for me to demonstrate to my children the power of overcoming daily challenges and pursuing goals together as a family.
The field of nursing has undergone remarkable evolution over the past two decades, with nurses now expected to engage in critical thinking and actively contribute as equals within the healthcare team. Nursing education emphasizes not only technical expertise but also essential qualities such as compassion and empathy, which are fundamental in providing patient-centered care.
My dedication to nursing extends far beyond the attainment of a Bachelor's degree. Upon graduation, I aspire to gain valuable experience in an acute care hospital while simultaneously pursuing a Master's degree in psychiatric nursing. The healthcare field faces pressing challenges that demand our attention. It is disconcerting that our nation's health outcomes continue to lag behind those of developed countries, while our care delivery system remains fragmented and fails to ensure equitable care for all communities. Nursing has instilled in me the understanding that we are not merely treating symptoms or diseases; we are caring for individuals. I eagerly anticipate leveraging the knowledge gained from my life experiences and education to collaborate with like-minded healthcare professionals. Together, we can strive to discover innovative solutions that have a positive impact on the communities we serve.
