About

Throughout my academic journey as an African American senior in high school, engineering has been a passion of mine. I have always possessed a fascination with the inner workings of gadgets and machinery which prompted me to explore numerous STEM subjects. With each exploration, my interest in pursuing a career in engineering was further cemented.

Although confronted with challenges and impediments in my community, including inadequate representation and resources, I persisted unrelentingly to succeed academically and pursue an engineering career. My tireless efforts, commitment, and perseverance have propelled me towards academic excellence while also engaging in extracurricular activities that intensified my interest in engineering.

As an African American student with a passion for STEM fields, I take pride in breaking barriers and hope to motivate others from underrepresented communities. With my proficiency in math and science coupled with practical hands-on experience acquired through internships and projects, I feel confident that college will present me with ample opportunities to pursue engineering wholeheartedly. My goal is not only to succeed but also inspire those around me on the journey towards their passions!

Outside the classroom

Basketball is one of my top pastimes because it offers several benefits, including keeping me active, providing opportunities to compete with peers and relieving stress. The experience of dribbling down the court or making a flawless layup or three-pointer fills me with excitement. It pushes both my physical and mental boundaries as I plan tactics while honing new skills. Whether playing alone on a hoop in solitude or engaging teammates for pick-up games at courtside parks; basketball always brings happiness by overshadowing any apprehensions that may arise within myself – serving not only as an activity but as passion itself which continuously drives motivation throughout life's journey!

Volunteering

  • During my final year in high school, I had the chance to volunteer and provide meals for homeless individuals every Monday in downtown Atlanta throughout summer. Witnessing how a basic meal can positively affect those who are struggling financially was truly humbling. The gratefulness expressed by our recipients reminded me of how privileged I am to have regular access to food. This experience reinforced the value of contributing back into society while inspiring me further strive towards making meaningful differences by volunteering more frequently for those less fortunate than myself.
