Goals and interests
- Career goal
I am currently working at Maplewood Career Center, a Career Technical Education High School in Ravenna, Ohio as the Animal Science Instructor. I have been actively teaching for 3 years at MCC and am looking forward to many more years there. I teach 11th and 12th grade students in 4 complete courses of Animal Science and Technology, Animal Anatomy and Physiology, Veterinary Science and Animal Health. I enjoy helping mold today's youth into responsible young adults with real job skills and capable of paving their future in an animal career.
- Graduate school interests
Taking courses at BGSU for their CTE Certificate program has made me think long and hard about my future in education. I learned that I wanted to make an even greater impact in student's education and in order to do that I needed to not just "settle" for my teaching license, but to let BGSU's esteemed professors mold me into the greatest educator I can become for the children that will shape our economy's future. Thus, I decided to pursue my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Teaching so I could better pursue this goal. No matter where my educational career takes me, I am sure BGSU will give me the tools I need to do to conquer anything in the field.
- Outside the classroom
I enjoy shooting competitive archery across the country as a semi-professional archer. I also enjoy farming and have a mid-sized livestock operation where I grow my own cattle, sheep, poultry and game. I love coaching kids/adults in archery or any animal related field. I have been volunteering judging youth poultry shows over the last few years and have been travelling to poultry shows to show my own bred birds since 2010. I stay very busy doing all this but in my downtime I enjoy reading, entertaining family and friends and playing with my 5 rescue dogs and 5 rescue cats.
