About

I’m Michael Murphy, a historian, speaker, reenactor, researcher, and author specializing in Colonial American History. As someone with a lifelong interest in the people, stories, and events that led to the coming together of this great nation, I have spent several years studying some of the country’s prominent wars. Being a researcher and historian based in Charlotte, North Carolina, my current studies include the French and Indian Wars, as well as the War for Independence. I have always been fascinated by the major interactions and scenarios that laid the foundation for this country’s politics and culture. For me, understanding the geo-political shifts throughout American history is fundamental. With this work, I have cultivated a deeper appreciation for each of the country’s individual parts and how they came together.
One of my most recent project includes a historical book that outlines notable insights and discoveries from my research. The book will be a deep dive into some of the country’s most impactful events. Aside from deepening my relationship to this land, the journey of writing this book has inspired me to enter the world of academia and expand my historical knowledge by learning from experts in the field.
I am a proud member of the American Historical Association Organization, the Indian Trail Arts and Historical Society, and the New England Historic Genealogical Society. I am also an Eagle Scout and a member of the Honor Society. Alongside the research for my book, I am also in the process of completing an Associate of Arts degree. In my free time, I speak at events and participate in historical re-enactments, which provide me with a more immersed perspective of America’s major historical events.
