About

I attended the College of Notre Dame during the latter part of 1990 - 2008. During that time, I was inducted into the National Honor Society for Religious and Theological Studies (Theta Alpha Kappa). When my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2008, I made the decision to withdraw from school to assist my family. The decision was indeed a sacrifice; however, placing family first proved to be a rewarding experience. I cannot begin to describe the heartbreaking ordeal of having to bear witness to a loved one whose health declines to the point where they hardly recognize their family. Nevertheless, I united with my siblings in their quest to protect my father when he entered into the healthcare system. My mother took the day shift to care for Dad, and my siblings and I took turns during the evening shift. We knew that the only way for Dad to receive appropriate care was if his family became a united front and rallied on his behalf. In the end, my father left this world and entered into eternity as the hero I have always known him to be. I wrote two books after is death to celebrate the ministry of Fatherhood, which my dad joyously accepted, and to celebrate my encounter with God in the midst of sorrow's valley. "As The Deer Pants For Streams of Water," is a compilation of poetic prayers that encapsulates a time of struggle with the reality of death and the continuity of life after death's appearance. "Strengthened By Prayer: Interludes of Oneness," explains my encounter with God through prayer. It describes what occurs when the precious Holy Spirit comes in to guide us into the secret dwelling place of God. My first book was published in 2010, and the second book was published shortly after that in 2011. In 2014, Notre Dame released my credits to Lancaster Bible College, where I pursued my Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Education. I graduated with high honors (Magna Cum Laude) in 2015.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I hope to use my skills as a Certified Minister, and the knowledge that I have acquired through my education at Notre Dame and LBC, to pursue my Master's in Healthcare Administration. I have often prayed that God would place His people in strategic positions of influence and power to effect and affect the world for the Kingdom of God. I believe that God has answered my prayer by using my gifts and talents to make a difference in the world, more specifically, Healthcare Quality. My hope is to utilize acquired skills, talents and gifts to change the way we "do" healthcare regarding patient safety. I learned a lesson through my personal experience in demanding good healthcare for my father. During his stay at a public facility, we discovered that he had developed a bed sore that required emergent care. As a family, my siblings and I rallied on behalf of my Dad and became his advocate. In the end, the establishment learned from their mistake(s) and redeemed themselves by giving Dad the best of care. They even offered their hospice suite and service free of charge to my Dad. Moreover, what could have been a horrible ordeal for the patient and family, through God's grace, turned into a beautiful experience in the end because the family made their voices known. I would like to assist with the re-emergence of the face and voice of the patient to bring healthcare into alignment with its' original purpose: Patient First.

Graduate school interests

In August 2016, I received an acceptance letter for entry into the Healthcare Administration Master's Degree Program at Saint Joseph's University. It is a 2-year Program. I plan to attend Lancaster Capitol Seminary, after completing the Master's Degree Program at SJU.

Outside the classroom

Enjoy walking trails especially during the Fall and Spring seasons. Also enjoy reading a good book and writing during my spare time. I realize that dating is not a considered a hobby, however, I do enjoy my weekend dates with my husband.
