About

Hello! I'm an avid animal lover with a deep passion for all creatures, big and small. Dogs & wildlife in particular, capture my heart, and I believe in the importance of protecting and preserving our natural world.

I also take pride in my work educating veterans about their healthcare options. It's truly rewarding to support those who have served our country and ensure they receive the care they deserve.

On a personal note, I’ve been happily married for 14 years to a wonderful husband who dedicated 20 years of service in the United States Air Force as a canine handler. Together, we share a love for animals, and often foster dogs with medical and or behavioral issues for our local anumal shelter. I’m excited to connect with others who share similar passions!

Goals and interests

Career goal

My achievements to date are deeply intertwined with my life goals, particularly in the realm of healthcare and serving veterans. Completing my Associate of Science in Medical Assisting has been a pivotal step in my journey, equipping me with essential knowledge and skills in patient care and healthcare administration. This solid foundation has not only fueled my dedication and resilience but has also reinforced my commitment to excellence in interactions with patients, especially those who have served our country.

Transitioning into the Registered Nursing Program at Chamberlain University represents a significant milestone in my professional journey, aligning perfectly with my goal of becoming a compassionate advocate for veterans. My experiences at the VA Hospital have opened my eyes to the multifaceted challenges veterans face, and I aspire to make a positive impact on their healthcare experiences. I envision specializing in pain management and wellness for this community, driven by a genuine mission to assist those who have bravely served our nation.

Both my academic achievements and my background in veterinary medicine have shaped my perspective on the importance of empathy and understanding in healthcare. They have instilled in me the value of listening with compassion and creating safe spaces for individuals to express their concerns. By merging the skills I've developed through my studies and my previous experience, I am focused on fostering healing and building a sense of community among veterans.

In essence, my achievements reflect not just milestones but also a purposeful trajectory toward a fulfilling career where I can advocate for enhanced healthcare services and holistic healing approaches tailored to the needs of veterans. I am excited about the journey ahead, ready to embrace new challenges that will allow me to serve with passion, purpose, and dedication.

Outside the classroom

My hobbies are delightfully reminiscent of an old Englishwoman! I absolutely adore crocheting and nurturing my garden. There's nothing quite like curling up with a good poetry book, either! My husband and I also love to explore the stunning Pacific Northwest, and of course, our four-legged 'children' Finn, Sarge, Brier, and Toby always join in on the adventures.
