About
My name is Mikayla Wolford, I am an undergraduate student at Purdue Global. I major in family and youth services and am aiming to complete my bachelors. I currently work in the field of child welfare as a case management aide so I can get hands on experience while I complete my degree. I currently live in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois but hope to venture out some day. Growing up, I have always done dance as a hobby and potential job. I have joined a few teams since I was in fourth grade and explored the options I can take as a dancer. After growing up and getting more of an education, I have decided to be a dancer as a hobby and compete on the side. My main goal since high school has been to help children in dire situations and find them safe homes and a nurturing environment. I used to be in girl scouts when I was younger and also volunteered at my dance studio when I was in middle school. In high school, I babysat for a couple of families until I turned eighteen and was able to officially become a preschool teacher. I got my Child Development Associates in 2018 and became a certified preschool teacher. As I learned more in college, I worked my way up to working in social services for child welfare.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
Child welfare worker. I am still exploring if this means case manager, foster parent, therapeutic foster care worker, or child advocate. I just know I want to help children in need.
- Graduate school interests
I want to complete my Masters, but later on down the road after I get settled into the field of child welfare and know exactly which job position I want to hold.
- Outside the classroom
I have been dancing since I was in fourth grade, mostly in urban style dancing. I also enjoy to do pottery. Throwing clay on the wheel is my preferred method.
