About
My name is Miranda Alice Sanders and I have had many opportunities within the academic universe to volunteer, perform, and excel in leadership. For about two to three years I performed viola at churches and nursing homes for entertainment of the elderly. I have many musical accomplishments for the viola including being in the Illinois Music Education Association (IMEA) State Orchestra in 2013 and 2014. In 2012, 2013, and 2014 I was in the IMEA District Orchestra and participated in the Chamber Music Festival at Illinois Wesleyan for three years. For two years, I prepared and served dinner at the Salvation Army kitchen in Bloomington, Illinois for the homeless. I was also the leader of the Youth Group Services at the Unitarian Universalist church for three years. I lived in Spain for a total of five years, four in Madrid, and my most recent year was spent in Barcelona where I painted tables and benches at a Hostal that was run by adults with down syndrome. It was a wonderful experience and I have been wanting to go back ever since. Due to living in Spain for so long, I am fluent in Spanish and able to communicate in Catalan, I also took Russian for a year at Indiana University. I graduated with honors from Bloomington High School and am currently a student at Indiana University as an Exercise Science major, hoping to study abroad Fall of 2016 in Perth, Australia. As for what I am doing right now, I am Assistant Director for Religious Education at the Unitarian Universalist church in Bloomington, Indiana. I used to run an organization that fought against sexual assault and rose awareness on the topic. I have had three jobs prior to the one I currently have. I am a hard working academic in addition to wanting to add to my community.
