Misshasha Gumbs

Hello everyone my name is Misshasha Gumbs. I was born in the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao. I moved to the US at 11 years old. I am currently a student at Delaware County Community College pursuing an associates in applied science. I’ve always wanted to be a nurse but it seemed so far fetched due to personal struggles, and it was last year that I finally started my college journey which makes me super happy! I was hesitant at first, due to the fact that I haven’t been in school in 10 years. I assumed I wouldn’t be able to keep up academically. However I surprised myself and as a result I am ecstatic to have been extended this invitation to be a part of this honor society. I am eager to be involved, and ultimately learn and grow as a student and a person. My goal is to continue applying myself, and hopefully receive scholarships that will make my dream of becoming a nurse even more attainable. I would become the first college grad in my family and I hope to set an example for my sisters and the rest of my family of the benefits of higher education.
