Misty Sides

I graduated as a Registered Nurse from Lubbock Christian University in 2014. I found my passion working in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Covenant Children's Hospital. In 2016, I decided to move to London, England. I worked as a nurse in Pediatric Intensive Care and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care. In 2019, I was able to travel to Vietnam with a team of volunteers to provide pediatric surgeries such as cleft palate repair, digit removal, separation of webbed fingers or toes, and hypospadias repairs. The COVID-19 pandemic encouraged me to further my education and role in healthcare. In the fall of 2021, I started at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center to obtain a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Master’s degree. I plan to graduate in May 2024. I am dedicated to my studies and career. I am a great scholarship candidate because I will continue to pay this forward by giving back to the community and utilizing my education to improve the quality and access to healthcare for children in West Texas. I am passionate about community and global health. I love to travel and meet people.
