Morgan Matheny

Through grit, I have been able to excel in furthering my education starting at the age of 40. From then to now, I have built a home, gotten married, had two major ACL reconstructions in a row just prior to my pregnancy with my sixth child who is now 1 year old, gone through a divorce, and battling Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder due to this abusive and lonely time of the past three and a half years. This is a success story! College has been a constant in my life that I could control in my world of surviving these events without any living family but wonderful support in Phi Theta Kappa, faculty, and classmates. While being a full-time college student, I currently work for an ER doctor, coach gymnastics at American Dance Company, and am a CNC machinist for production of product when needed for a small business. I have grown into someone I never imagined and I am proud of these hurdles I have prevailed. I naively believed, when I started college I would end up in a career saving sea turtles to say the least, however, I found my path is obtaining the power to help others like myself and beyond through a Jurisprudence Doctorate. I fully intend to extend my J.D. and proceed to a Master of Law. I am also proud to be 43 years old entering Pre-Law while coming out of retirement, and competing on a woman's gymnastics competition team.
