About

From being an elite gymnast and home schooled in Florida to being thrown in the deep end of public school in Illinois, life has always kept me on my toes. I graduated from Morton High School in 2015 and now live in East Peoria, Illinois. In high school I could not figure out who I wanted to be when I grew up. I didn't have a huge dream or goal I was chasing. All I knew what that I loved the medical field. I completed my Certified Nursing Assistant program my Senior year through Illinois Central College. This provided me with a great amount of experience and knowledge moving forward in my career. After completing my general education requirements, I stumbled upon Surgical Technology. No one ever told me about this area in the health field. In fact, most don't know what it is or that it exists. I am proud to say that in May of 2019 I graduated with my Associates in Applied Science and passed the state exam to become a Certified Surgical Technologist. I quickly realized that I wanted to be more than this. I want to do more. I want to be more involved and make a greater impact. Starting in the Fall of 2021, I begin my new adventure of becoming an RN through Illinois Central College.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I began my health careers journey as a CNA in 2015. Since then I have worked in General Surgery at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, and Premier Medical Group in Bloomington, Illinois. I have not put my finger on exactly what I want to do as of yet. Premier Medical Group has opened the door to the business side of the health field as I am the Supervisor of our Pathology Lab. However, my heart belongs in surgery and it is my hope to be in the OR again.

Outside the classroom

I really enjoy weight lifting. I began going to the gym when I was a Sophomore in High School and have been going ever since. Being active and athletic is something I will always incorporate in my daily life. Due to being a competitive gymnast at a very young age, the mental drive has been instilled in me. When I am not at work you can find me in the gym or at home with my dogs.
