About
Muhammad Fayyaz is a pharmacist, pharmaceutical scientist, and future Biomedical Engineer. He has served 15 years as a clinical pharmacist, industrial pharmacist, faculty member, and researcher. Muhammad Fayyaz has a Pharm.D, MS, and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Karachi; Pakistan is one of the leading Pharmacy schools in Asia. His field of specialization is pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drug-drug interactions, targeted drug delivery, physiologically based pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics modeling, model-informed drug development, drug discovery, integrating "Omics" based Biomarker(s) research, nano-biosensor development, and clinical trials.
After his PharmD, Muhammad worked for four years in leading multinational pharmaceutical organizations such as Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline in process and methods validation and formulation development. He has six years of teaching experience in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences and 11 years in clinical pharmacy. Before joining the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, he was a faculty member at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Jinnah Sindh Medical University in Karachi. He is an active member of the American Chemical Society, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Control Release Society, and Biomedical Engineering Society.
In the fall of 2017, he joined the Department of Bioengineering University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to pursue his second Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering. Recently, Muhammad has been awarded two fellowships. Mavis Future Faculty Fellow, Mayo Clinic, and Illinois Alliance Fellowship for Technology-Based Healthcare Research. His primary research area is a model-informed drug development and translational medicine that predominate and predate various diseases. He collaborates with clinicians at the Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota, Carle Foundation Hospital, engineers at the Micro & Nanotechnology Center, and scientists at Beckman Institute at UIUC to engineer novel therapeutics. Muhammad's ultimate goal is to join academia in pursuit of his ambition to conduct research at the interface of medical sciences, engineering, and pharmaceuticals.
