Musa Animashaun

A first-year MS student at the University of Southern Mississippi, major in Hydrography. I had my bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Geoinformatics at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, with a CGPA of 4.75/5.0. Thereafter, I worked in a oil and gas servicing firm where I participated in many voyages to the Atlantic ocean to map and carry out seabed geophysical surveys for oil and gas exploration. I also gained the experience of subsea facility installations like pipe and cable lay, risers, jackets, etc. I am currently enrolled in the MS in Hydrography program at USM where I aim to obtain my Category-A Hydrographer certification, a globally sought after certification, upon completing my program. I am passionate about Hydrography and Ocean Mapping, and I hope to contribute to immensely to unlocking the mysteries of our ocean realm so we can harness its benefits optimally. Also, I am a lover of academic excellence, and this is evident in my academic records, as I am currently the best student in my program at USM with a perfect CGPA of 4.0/4.0.

In addition, I also work as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Hydrographic Science Research Center (HSRC) at USM, and my current research is focused on the application of Autonomous and Unmanned Survey Vehicles for Ocean Mapping.
