About

Born into an environment where education, religion, and encouragement were not valued, I was blessed by the grace of God when my parents entered my life. They saw the potential within us and made the selfless decision to adopt my two brothers and I, giving us a second chance at life, filled with limitless opportunities. They rescued us from a desperate environment of neglect and became the guiding light that shaped my successful journey.
Growing up, my brothers and I faced challenges that seemed insurmountable. However, my parents identified the power of knowledge and the doors it could open. They strongly valued the importance of education, religion, and work ethic as the top priorities for our future. They taught us that knowledge is power and that through education, we could break the cycle of our past. They instilled in me the belief that we could achieve anything we set our minds to do.
Education became my ticket to a brighter future. Their encouragement became the fuel that propelled me to strive for excellence in all aspects of life. Academically, I embraced opportunities they provided, and I am proud to be the first generation of my biological family who will attend college. My parents’ push ignited my motivation and work ethic, pushing myself to constantly pursue academics and strive for excellence. I excelled drastically as a result of my hard work, making honor roll, National Honors Society, and winning a literary award for Black History Month.
Academics, however, isn’t the only place I flourished. Religion also played a vital role in shaping my character. Through their guidance, I have cultivated a deep connection to my Christian faith and spiritual journey. Through my spiritual journey, I learned the value of compassion, forgiveness, and the importance of serving others. Given the opportunity to travel to Èl Salvador on a mission trip last year, I learned that service is not just an act of charity but a way to uplift and empower those in need, providing them with the tools and support necessary to overcome their own obstacles, just as I did. I strive to live a life rooted in compassion, kindness, and service to others.
Sports also played a significant role in my development. Being a competitive gymnast, I learned the value of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Athletics taught me to embrace challenges, accept defeat graciously, and recover with greater determination. Thanks to my parents, I was able to excel in sports, maximizing every opportunity, later on winning several state and regional titles.
As I reflect on my journey, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude. My parents’ love and encouragement have propelled me to succeed in all aspects of life. Academically, I have achieved top honors, driven by my work ethic. Spiritually, I have found comfort and purpose through my faith, inspired by my testimony. Every achievement and milestone are a testament to my commitment and values instilled in me. Additionally, I want nothing more than to make them proud and show them that their sacrifices were not in vain.
My adoption story is not just about being saved from a bleak environment; it is about the transformation power of love and the determined belief in the limitless potential of a child. My parents have given me the greatest gift: the opportunity to create a better future. My story is one of hope, resilience, and thankfulness. Through the love and guidance of my parents, I was able to rise above the circumstances I was born into and succeed through the power of dedication. I am determined to make the most of the limitless opportunities that are to come and to honor them achieving success in all aspects of my life.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I plan to go into the field of nursing as it has always been my childhood dream. I have a passion for helping people in times of need and struggle. It is rewarding to be that hand of support. Growing up, my parents were and still are the helping hand in my life and I am endlessly grateful for them. In return, I want to serve others and being a nurse for me fulfills this goal.
