About
After years of freelance work, online courses and certificates, reading with a goal of 200 books a year, and studying anything that interested me, I finally made the decision to pursue a degree. What started as an interest in Psychology during my years at my local community college, evolved into Strategic Leadership as I enter my Senior year at Northern Arizona University.
Which, from first glance, might seem a strange path to take. When I started this adventure I had a keen interest in understanding the people around me. At the same time I took on a volunteer role in a start-up non-profit working side by side with the founder on strategy, and with her mentorship, emerged as a leader within the team, and the community we were building.
I'm excited to begin the Strategic Leadership program. The book list alone has me chomping at the bit to get started.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
Having had the experiences of helping others starts their own business by being their sounding board, offering ideas and strategies, and then hands on help, I know what I love to do - figure stuff out. Research and plan, then act on those plans is the excitement I crave.
This has put me in positions from executive assistant to project manager to COO (my favorite so far!). But I know it takes time to not just learn the ropes within an organization, but to be the one making them. My goal is to find the right fit for me to become a part of an organization, working my way up the chain of command, holding leadership positions along the way to the C-Suite level where I can use my education (Psychology and Strategic Leadership) to make a difference for those I work with, those I lead, and the community we serve.- Outside the classroom
When I'm not editing other people's work, I'm a fiction and non-fiction author. Taking walks with friends, especially the ones who read like I do, are the best. I have dreams of writing songs and screenplays.
Experience
-
business owner/operator
As a small business owner, I was able to offer a variety of services as my experience grew. What started as writing content and copy, evolved into building websites, editing, blogging, social media, digital marketing, and business development, strategy and execution. While the majority of my clientele were virtual, I had also had the pleasure of working with people in my community.

Volunteering
-
Assisted the owner from the inception of the idea, developing the non-profit mission and strategy. Created an online space where the community began to form, leading to in-person retreats for women around the world seeking support as the navigate their own path to success in the many areas and stages of life.
