Volunteering

  • Currently, I am an active member in a community leadership group that is working to bring a Splashpad to one of our local parks. Our group consists of 4 committee members that are working closely with the city and the park and recreation department to bring a 2500 square foot splashpad to our community. The group is actively fundraising, building awareness around the project, and working with local contractors and vendors to create a perfect design. The cost of the project in $300,000. Through pledges and donations, we have raised $240,000 and are hoping to complete the project in the spring of 2022. Bringing a Splashpad to our community is a huge undertaking. It has created a lot of excitement and has developed strong community support.

  • I took on the role of Committee Chair for my sons Boys Scout Troop at a time when the leadership was declining and the Troop was in serious need of change. With my leadership and the help of others, we created a new vision for the Troop. The goal was to elevate our programming, provide better communication, change leadership where needed, recruit new scouts and attract stronger leaders to our organization. I served as the committee chair for 6 years and recently resigned in fall of 2020 to further my education. Throughout my time we restructured our meetings, doubled our enrollment, recruited new qualified and trained leaders and offered high quality scouting experiences to everyone.

With this leadership role, I coordinated and recruited volunteers for the annual team fundraiser, planned the end of the year parties, and regularly communicated with the parents and families in the program.
