Nigel Smucker

I am a junior at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, majoring in Statistics and Communication with a minor in Leadership Studies. Additionally, I am in the process of completing a Leadership Studies certificate and a Public Relations certificate. The difference in the Leadership Studies certificate and minor is the certificate focuses on applying what is learned whereas the minor focuses on learning the different theories of leadership. Before UIUC, I spent two years at Illinois Central College in their Honors Program, where I earned my Associates of Science with an emphasis on Statistics.

For this upcoming school year, I am the Vice President of the Treasury for Communication Association, the registered student organization for the Communication Department at UIUC. The goal of the Comm Association executive board. as well as Comm Association itself is to be liaisons for students and provide communication majors and minors chances to learn about grad school, jobs and internships via panels of graduated communication majors, professors or outside companies. I will also be on the Subcommittee on the Statistical Analysis for the Student Body. The subcommittee's responsibility is to assist the iSurvey Coordinator in data collection, interpretation and publication. The iSurvey program was created by the Illinois Student Senate to raise awareness of issues that pertain to the student body.
