About
I am a high school senior with the goal of attending the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Computational Media major in order to enter the medical field and innovate by creating new technology to aid people in rehabilitation people after injuries with the help of virtual reality.
I have spent time volunteering in my community through BETA club, NHS, and my local soup kitchen, with the latter of which being my catalyst for pursuing this career.
I have also had work experience through my school's work-based-learning option, which has allowed me to narrow down over time what sectors of technology interest me. For my internship, I worked a Bulloch Solutions, a local internet service provider, where I was able to see the ins and outs of the physical and administrative side of IT.
Science Olympiad through my high school's STEM club is another major part of my high school experience. In Science Olympiad, competitors team up to take college level tests, complete labs, and create builds to perform the best against other teams. Through this event, I've met some of the most passionate people that inspired me to dream to major universities. Our team was involved in competing (regularly placing top 3 at the AA division at state) and volunteering, where we created both materials and tournaments for other coaches in the southeastern area.
In my free time, I have worked on learning Spanish to broaden my cultural understanding and video game development in order to hone my programming skills. So far, I have created and released an indie game over the course of a year, which has taught me a significant amount about managing projects and complexity. The skillset that I built up through making this project will likely transfer over to virtual reality projects.
