About

My name is Ollie Holt. I am a twenty-two-year-old, non-binary, English literature student at the University of North Texas. I have lived in the DFW area my whole life. Ever since I was young, I have loved to read and write. My mother, who is a teacher, is the one who taught me and my siblings to read as soon as she could. I have always excelled in my English classes, and my professors inspired me to combine my love of literature and my career. My passion for literature can be seen in my teacher's opinions in myself, as well as my writing, and in my GPA.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am open to doing many job paths. English degrees can serve many functions, and I believe my degree will allow me to pursue and accomplish any job path. I have a strong interest in technical writing, as well as teaching at a University. My focus in teaching would preferably be literature-based classes.

Graduate school interests

My goal is to be attending Graduate school in August 2021. I have a strong interest in the OSU Literature and Culture program. I have also been researching Ph.D. programs in which the first two years count towards one's Master's degree. I would like to eventually get my Ph.D.

Outside the classroom

Reading and writing are my main hobbies! I love reading modernist work, especially short stories. As of lately, I've been reading up on Greek and Roman history, as well as mythology. I also love anthropological studies and articles about human behavior. My writing tends to be analytical, but I allow my animated personality to come through the page. Along with the multitudes of academic writing, classical literature, and poetry, one would also find comic books on my bookshelf. I have a strong presence in the gaming community. I enjoy these activities because they offer insight into human behavior and communication. This is truly where my interests lie. Literature, writing, anthropology, and, even video games, help to unravel the human psyche.
