About
Being globally involved, intellectually curious, and passionate are phrases that reflect both my past achievements and future goals. When I traveled to India it made me curious about the diseases in other worlds, and how they affect us. That spark of interest was intensified when I started working for Rocky Mountain Labs. Through the lab I have been able to learn about different diseases and to gain the knowledge of what it means to be involved in a real world cause.
It is my goal to become a research biologist using my curiosity to solve world diseases and help educate people about those cures. As a volunteer for several community organizations in rural Montana, I have learned that passion to learn, awareness of others' needs, and enjoying working together are often all that’s needed to make a difference in any community. I love learning and enjoy dance, choir, and art but I also enjoy math and science.
I see college as a stepping-stone in life. My goal is to obtain an Undergraduate Biology degree, and then pursue science further with a Masters or a PHD in Forensic Science or Microbiology. Science is a huge part of my life because my grandmother is a research scientist and my role model. Through the experience I gained at RML and the mentoring of my grandmother, I am able to see how important it is to continue my education and also to balance classroom learning with real life learning. I believe by having a strong biology research background, and coupling that with internships I will be better prepared to contribute in the field of microbiology research but also real solutions to find cures for diseases.
