About

Good day, How are you today? I have been a caretaker for my entire life. I helped my sick mother raise her three children and worked as a nurses aid in my teens. Caring for others gives me great pleasure. I am glad I am an RN because initially, I wanted to be a Medical Examiner. The need to problem solve lies with each patient's well being, enhanced treatment and thorough examinations as I aid them in the healing process. Observing patients' reactions to treatment and medications is not only required but essential for the doctor and future improvements in healthcare. As a former business owner I understand due diligence. I have found other healthcare conditions in patients and of course brought it to their doctor's attention (usually it had nothing to do with the Specialist or their dz but the doctor was able to have an additional doctor examine the patient and work on a mutually agreed upon treatment otherwise the patient's condition may have continued to have gone unnoticed). It is not in the RN's scope of practice to give a medical dz but it is in her scope of practice and morally to bring new healthcare conditions, signs & symptoms to the doctor. I can promise my care is innate and my knowledge increases & & continue to improve due to continued education, studying evidenced based scientific research and incorporating new nursing techniques. I understand there will always be room for improvement and I feel ongoing education in necessary for all Registered Nurses. I've been fortunate to win/work hard for awards but the most important acknowledgement I received was a blessed Pendant from a Hospital Pastor for consistently incorporating my patient's culture into their plan of care. Each patient is an unique individual with varying healthcare signs and symptoms. We are there to suit each patient's needs on an individual basis. I am exceptional loyal to my fellow colleagues, patients and employer (Something spills on the floor, I do not wait for maintenance and I will clean it up). I have always been in charge of clinical classes in school and professors put their trust in me to run the day. Working 80 to 90 hours of week to me is normal. I enjoy nighttime, overnight and would pleasantly work the day shift. I was raised old school and my allegiance will always be for the healthcare facility I work for as well as providing in-depth assistance to patients and their families. It is important to actively listen to the patients in order to help problem-solve quickly, I was blessed with an incredibly mind which included high intelligence and providing extremely compassionate patient care. I am fast but will not perform a procedure I am not comfortable with (in all honesty I stay or come in on my time to master a procedure). I can detect incredibly intelligent people with outstanding compassion and will train new RNs effectively so they will continue with each new generation of nurses. I will be finishing the rest of my Bachelors in Applied Science with major - nursing. In addition, I will be working on certifications and not just ones that have to be renewed. I have worked as an advocate since I was a teenager. In 6 months I will be volunteering a few hours a week (depending on my job) as a rape advocate as well as getting SAFE CERTIFIED (Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner) RN. I am at my happiest working and caring for others. I've learned so much about various cultures, religions etc. from patients. It is an amazing ride to learn what is exists out there and other individuals' traditions. While caring for others, I learn about the world. Thank you. Patricia Donato
