About
Dedicated and passionate education and mental health program coordinator with experience in project management, K-12 and higher education administration, technical support, government administration, event management, and non-profit development. I plan to leverage my experience in government and education administration with a Master's in Counseling to provide services to underserved youth communities and improve the mental health system throughout the state of Colorado and beyond.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
Previously, I have worked with youth mental health and education service providers at the state-level as well as volunteered as a peer counselor to young adults with mental health difficulties. Currently, I am taking some time away from work to focus on my psychology pre-requisite studies and volunteer obligations such as serving on the Colorado State Behavioral Health Administration Advisory Counsel as someone with lived experience utilizing Colorado mental health services. After I have completed the pre-requisite classes, I plan to begin my Master's in Counseling, which will take me approximately three and a half years to complete. After graduation, I will practice my counseling skills while attending a program to allow me prescription authority in Colorado (several avenues are available including an M.D. or a Ph.D.). I will need to have a better idea of where my interests lie in order to make a decision, which will require more experience in the field. Once I have appropriate qualifications, I would like to move back to Colorado where I will serve wealthier clients half-time and underserved communities for free during the remainder of my time. I have a particular interest in serving transgender young adults and LGBTQ+ individuals who live in rural areas. I would then like to leverage all of my experience to improve the public Colorado mental health system on a state and local level, potentially being able to utilize any success in these efforts to aid other complex state populations.
- Graduate school interests
I'm primarily interested in California State University - Fullerton for my Master's in Counseling. After I complete this degree, my current preference in further education is to either complete my Medical Degree in Psychiatry (preferably at Duke where my family has taught in the psychiatry department, but that depends on how safe it is for a transgender student in North Carolina) or to complete my Doctorate in Psychology (preferably at Harvard because I am very interested in the suicidality research their head of Psychology is conducting. However, I am also very interested in shame development prevention in youth and young adults for similar reasons). Although I am aware a Master's in Counseling is not required for entrance into these programs, I believe it will help me develop a stronger foothold and focus on the industry and specific areas of research. I also know that a huge problem in the mental health industry for clients is a dearth of providers with prescription authority who have appropriate counseling skills. Thus, trained counselors with prescription authority are in high demand.
